Join us for an evening behind the scenes as caricaturist Tom Chalkley is interviewed by veteran Chautauqua performer and Chair of Greenville Chautauqua, Larry Bounds.  Discover the backstory and ask questions of the artist behind Greenville Chautauqua’s iconic caricatures.  Learn how and why the drawings of our upcoming season’s characters are created and see the artist at work!

I am a caricaturist, cartoonist, illustrator and writer based in Baltimore, Maryland since 1979.

My cartoons have been featured in a wide variety of publications — from alternative weeklies to The New Yorker.

I have specialized in informational illustration (charts, maps, slide shows, diagrams, comic strips), satirical illustration and political cartoons, and work that supports local activism and community work.

My commercial work has spanned product labels, tee-shirt designs, posters, and truck wraps.

Currently I’m working on what will be a 275 page graphic memoir (working title, “Novelty Record”) with my lifelong pal and collaborator, Craig Hankin.  The book tells mostly-true stories about our brief but amusing career in rock’n’roll.

Musically, I’ve been playing harmonica, singing, and songwriting as part of the Patapsco Delta Boys since 2003.

My latest literary effort was co-authoring, with Brennen Jensen, “A History Lover’s Guide to Baltimore,” published by The History Press in 2021.

I take on all kinds of assignments. The best way to reach me is by phone or text to 410-615-5020.
